Why Do You Need to Use PNG Images in Your Website Creation?
The benefits of incorporating PNG file format in web designing over various other image formats ;for instance, GIF and JPEG; the file format can be used to make really amazing and wonderful icons that will entice your visitorsThe PNG file format was introduced some time ago; it was put forth in the market around 95/96 to cover the drawbacks of the popular GIF image format. However, it did not catch on because the then browsers were unable to support the state of the art features of PNG so web designers and creators were forced to incorporate it stingily. One of the main blocks standing in the way was Microsoft's flagship product, Internet Explorer which was by far the most famous browsers of the time; IE had limited provision for PNG support which meant that the format could only be incorporated in limited capacity. Then, matters changed when IE7 was brought out; this latest product from Microsoft has proved immensely useful in increasing increasing the usability of PNGs. You will be able to create transparent images or a property known as alpha transparency: When you pitch GIF against PNG, it will become apparent that A definitive difference in the two formats is that you you will be restricted to saving a specific color transparently through the use of GIF this simply means that the color can be used whether opaque or transparent with no other color in between with the use of PNG, you get a specific feature over GIF; because the format can be used to produce semi transparency. This feature gives you the ability to save a PNG picture with a soft drop shadow and then use it against a background of your choice. Through this feature you will be able to use an image as a watermark or a gradient background. The format allows for the slow fading of shades from fully opaque to transparent, exposing the webpage that lies in the background
They look fantastic: Apart from the fact, that you get amazing flexibility wit PNG images; there are numerous other benefits to using this format. For example, when you use a JPEG image, you lose a part of the details from the original file each time the file is saved, so after a while, you will be able to view a noticeable downgrade in the appearance of the media. Although, this issue has been resolved in in the file type and you will be able to store the files without losing any data, GIF has a highly restrictive 256 color palette, which imparts it quite futile if you are going to store a picture. On the other hand, if PNG is incorporated, you can get the perfect attributes of the two file types; you get a complete color display like the one used in JPEG file type and it also provides managed color palette like GIF files. At the same time the storage of the file is lossless so the image does not change despite innumerable times of saving the file.
PNG allows for self optimization: One of the hurdles that web designers have to tackle on a daily basis is the anomaly due to which the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be changed to see the pictures correctly; this problem occurs due to various Gamma setting used in monitors from different vendors. Gamma is a technique used to spread the luminance across the screen. However, different operating systems use distinct Gamma settings. Therefore, an image that is color corrected for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Again, in this situation the flexible PNG picture format can help you out, in PNG, you can save the images with a built in Gamma correction so regardless of the operating system; the Gamma settings will be changed on its own to show a file with the perfect ratios of contrast as well as brightness.
