Basically it is possible even at the one who had never control over the weapon who did not participate at all in physical conflicts. You ask: how, at the expense of what it is possible? First of all, at the expense of great variety of unconditioned reflexes which are initially entered into "reason" of our body.For example, you do not need to learn to draw aside a hand from a hot frying pan. The body itself makes this action, and much faster, than we have time to come round. Likely, sometimes you paid attention on it of twitching of own muscles after heavy exercises. Try to repeat them with the same speed, but it is already conscious. It won't work. And it means that our body is capable to make more powerful nervous impulses, rather than consciousness.
Our body, that is subconsciousness, area of the latent reflexes, operates much more effectively, than reason. Spontaneity level high quality fighters who do not have time reach to consider the actions in rigid duels where all are solved by an insignificant fraction of a second. If unexpectedly and sharply to give up as a bad job in the face of the person, that, staying in a certain status of spirit, he will not have time to react and remains motionless. But in other status of spirit, in other psycho-emotional spirit the same person is capable to draw aside instantly a head, and is much sharper, than it could make it after careful consideration. Both similar extremely sharp and unexpected action frequently occurs as though in itself.
