Why Should You Use PNG Images in Your Website Creation?
The pros of including PNG file format in website designing over other file types like GIF and JPEG; the image format works well if you need to make really amazing and efficient web graphics that will entice your customersThe PNG file type was introduced a few years back; it was brought out for consumers in 1995/96 to cover the drawbacks of the traditional GIF file type. However, it failed to create ripples because the the browsers of the time could not offer support to the advanced features of PNG so internet designers and developers were compelled to use it sparingly. One of the main hurdles standing in the way was Microsoft Internet Explorer which was by far the most famous browsers of the time; IE had little or no space for PNG support which meant that the format could only be incorporated to a bare minimum. But, things changed after the availability of IE7; this latest offering from Microsoft has aided in increasing the usability of PNGs. So here is a look at three reasons why PNG is by far the most useful image formats to be introduced so far:
You will be able to create images that can be superimposed due to their transparency or a property known as alpha transparency: When you pitch GIF against PNG, you will see that A definitive difference in the two formats is that you can only save a particular color transparently through the use of GIF this simply means that the color can be used regardless of it being opaque or transparent with no other color in betweenbut when you use PNG, you get a specific advantage; because the format can be used to produce semi transparency. With this attribute, you can save a PNG picture with a soft drop shadow and then float it against any background. Through this feature you will be able to use an image as a background with gradient or a water mark. The image file type lets you incorporate the smooth fading of shades from entirely opaque to absolutely transparent, so that you can see the webpage underneath
They look fantastic: Not only do you get surprising flexibility when using PNG images but also; there are several other benefits to including this format. For instance, if you make use of the JPG Format, you lose a portion of the information from the original file whenever you save the file, so after a while, you will be able to view a noticeable decline in the finesse of the pictures. Even if, this problem has now been sorted in GIF and it is possible to save the pictures without compromising any information, GIF has a limited color palette of 256, which makes it quite futile if you want to store a snap shot. But, if PNG is incorporated, you will get the most desired benefits of both these formats; you get a full color display like with JPEG images and it also supports managed color palette like GIF files. At the same time the compression of the picture is sans loss so the photograph does not change even if you save the file several times.
PNG is self optimizing: A major concern that web programmers have to tackle on a daily basis is the issue where the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be adjusted to see the pictures appropriately; this problem occurs due to the difference in the Gamma setting used for the different monitors. Gamma setting is a method incorporated to spread the luminance across the screen. However, different operating systems use distinct Gamma settings. Hence, multimedia that is color corrected specifically for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Here again, in this scenario the flexible PNG image type comes to the rescue, in PNG, you can save the pictures with with a Gamma correction feature that is innate so whatever operating system you are working on; the Gamma settings will be realigned to display a file with the amazing brightness and contrast.
