Why Is it In Your Best Interest To Use PNG Images in Your Website Creation?
The benefits of including PNG image format in web designing over the different formats such as GIF and JPEG; the file type can be used to make better and wonderful icons that will wow your customersThe PNG file format was introduced some time ago; it was brought out in the market in 1995/96 to make up for the shortcomings of the popular GIF file format. However, it did not catch on because the the browsers of the time were unable to support the advanced attributes of PNG so website designers and creators were compelled to incorporate it sparingly. One of the primary hurdles that marred the features of PNG was with Microsoft's Internet Explorer which was by far the most famous browsers of that period; IE had very little provision for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be used in the most restricted way. Then, things metamorphosed when IE7 was brought out; this new product from Microsoft has proved immensely useful in increasing increasing the popularity of PNGs. So here is why at three reasons why PNG is by far the most innovative image formats around today:
You can get images that can be superimposed due to their transparency or alpha transparency: When you compare PNG with GIF, you will see that one of the major differences is that you will only be able to save a particular color transparently through the use of GIF this equates to the fact that the color can be transformed regardless of it being opaque or transparent with nothing in betweenbut when you use PNG, you get a serious advantage; because the format supports semi transparent pixels. This simply means that you can save a PNG picture with a soft drop shadow and then use it against a background of your choice. The Image can also be used as a watermark or a gradient background. The image file type allows for the gradual fading of colors from fully opaque to see through, so that you can see the webpage that lies in the background
They look fabulous: It is a well known fact that PNG images give you extreme flexibility also; there are a myriad of other advantages to using this format. For example, if you choose a JPG image, you lose a portion of the details on the original file every time the file is saved, so eventually, you will be able to view a distinct downgrade in the finesse of the images. Even if, this issue has been resolved in GIF and you will be able to save the images without losing any details, GIF only allows for a limited 256 color palette, which renders it quite ineffective if you have to save a snap shot. However, when you use PNG, you could get the best benefits of the image formats; you get a full color display like with JPEG images and it also supports managed color palette a la GIF files. Another advantage is that the compression of the file is sans loss so the image stays as it is even if you save the file several times.
PNG is self optimizing: One of the hurdles that web designers face frequently is the fact that the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be changed to see the images appropriately; this happens due to the difference in the Gamma setting used for the different monitors. Gamma is a technique incorporated to spread the luminance across the screen. However, diverse operating systems use distinct Gamma settings. Hence, multimedia that is color corrected specifically for Windows may not look right on a Mac. Once again, in this situation the innovative PNG format can prove useful, in PNG, you can store the pictures with an inherent Gamma correction feature so whatever operating system you are working on; the Gamma settings will be automatically adjusted to display a file with the perfect contrast and brightness.
