Why Should You Use PNG Images in Your Website Creation?
The advantages of incorporating PNG images in website creation over various other file types ;for instance, GIF and JPEG; the image format helps to make better and efficient web graphics that will wow your visitorsThe PNG file format was introduced some time ago; it was brought out in the market in the mid 90's to cover the drawbacks of the popular GIF image format. However, it did not catch on because the the browsers of the time were not designed to support the progressive offerings of PNG so internet designers and makers were forced to use it restrictedly. One of the primary hindrances that marred the features of PNG was with Microsoft Internet Explorer which was one of the most popular browsers of the time; IE had little or no space for PNG support consequently the format could only be incorporated in limited capacity. Then, the scene went through a change after the availability of IE7; this fresh browser from Microsoft has helped in increasing the popularity of PNGs. So lets take a look at three reasons why PNG is by far the best image formats in the market today:
It is possible to create transparent images or a property known as alpha transparency: When you analyze the features of GIF and PNG, will notice that A definitive difference in the two formats is that you can only save a particular color in a transparent format through GIF this simply means that the color can be transformed whether opaque or transparent with just transparency in betweenbut when you use PNG, you get a serious feature over GIF; because the format can be used to produce semi transparency. This feature gives you the ability to save a PNG file with a soft drop shadow and then float it against any background. Through this feature you will be able to use an image as a background with gradient or a water mark. The image file type lets you incorporate the smooth fading of shades from entirely opaque to see through, exposing the webpage underneath
They look fabulous: Not only do you get surprising flexibility when using PNG images but also; there are numerous other benefits to using this format. For instance, if you make use of the JPG Format, you lose a portion of the data from the original file each time you save the file, so eventually, you will be able to view a noticeable decline in the finesse of the media. Even though, this problem has now been sorted in the image format and you can store the files without losing any details, GIF only allows for a limited 256 color palette, which imparts it quite ineffective if you want to store a picture. On the other hand, if PNG is incorporated, you could get the most desired attributes of the image formats; you will have access to a complete color display similar to JPEG file type and it also offers managed color palette like GIF files. Also the compression of the picture is lossless so the picture stays put despite innumerable times of saving the file.
PNG allows for self optimization: One of the hurdles that web programmers face very often is the anomaly due to which the contrast and brightness of the commuter screen has to be changed to see the the display properly; the issue comes into the picture due to various Gamma setting used in monitors from different vendors. Gamma is a technique used to scatter the luminance across the monitor display. However, different operating systems use varying Gamma settings. Hence, multimedia that is color corrected to suit Windows may not look right on a Mac. Here again, in this case the flexible PNG format can help you out, in PNG, you can store the pictures with a built in Gamma correction so despite the differences in operating systems; the Gamma settings will be changed on its own to show a file with the perfect ratios of contrast as well as brightness.
