Why Is it In Your Best Interest To Use PNG Images in Your Web Design?
The pros of including PNG file format in web designing over the different image formats ;for instance, GIF and JPEG; the image format can be used to make really amazing and wonderful icons that will entice your consumersThe PNG file format was introduced quite a while back; it was brought out in the market in 1995/96 to meet the deficiencies of the popular GIF file type. However, it did not make an impression because the then browsers were not designed to support the progressive features of PNG so web designers and creators were forced to incorporate it sparingly. One of the primary hurdles faced by the format was Microsoft Internet Explorer which was by far the most famous browsers of the time; IE had very little space for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be made use of to a bare minimum. They look spectacular: It is a well known fact that PNG images give you extreme flexibility also; there are numerous other advantages to incorporating this format. For example, when you use a JPEG image, you lose some of the data from the initial image every time you save the file, so eventually, you will be able to view a conspicuous downgrade in the finesse of the pictures. Although, this issue has been resolved in the image format and you will be able to store the files without compromising any data, GIF has a limited color palette of 256, which makes it quite ineffective if you want to store a photograph. On the other hand, when you use PNG, you will get the perfect attributes of both these formats; you will have access to a full color display similar to JPEG format and it also offers managed color palette a la GIF files. At the same time the storage of the image is sans loss so the picture stays as it is regardless of how many time you save it.
PNG is self optimizing: A serious problem that web designers face frequently is the fact that the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be adjusted to see the the display appropriately; this problem occurs due to various Gamma setting used in monitors from different vendors. Gamma setting is a technology that helps to spread the luminance across the monitor display. However, different operating systems use varying Gamma settings. Hence, a picture that is color corrected for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Once again, in this scenario the innovative PNG format comes to the rescue, in PNG, you can store the pictures with with a Gamma correction feature that is innate so regardless of the operating system; the Gamma settings will be automatically adjusted to show a picture with the impressive contrast and brightness.
